"Tis the good reader that makes the good book." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

How many times have you read a book for pleasure or to meet an assignment and thought, what was the point in that? For some like my husband, just about every time. Sometimes, it takes a second reading, knowledge of the time period, understanding of the author's experiences, or open discussion with other readers to truly "get" or enjoy a story. The next time you feel lost in a book, try digging. Some available resources include Literature Resources from Gale, Scribner Writers Online, and Twayne Authors Series- all accessible via the AVL.
